AMAZON ECOLOGICAL SPA "CHARAPAMAMA"

The Amazon Ecological Spa Charapamama is located in theTamshiyacu village, 40 kms up the Amazon River -the most impressive and full flowing river of the world- and travelling by boat in a 45 minutes trip from Iquitos city.

The Tamshiyacu village is a mystical traditional village, due to live there some of the famous shamans of the Amazon Jungle and for the natural treatments for the body and the mind that are done in this area. The Tamshiyacu people is also known for their artisan traditions

Nearby Tamshiyacu village, about one hour trekking inside the jungle, is located The Amazon Ecological Spa Charapamama, which has been created for those people that like to take care of their body without using chemical products.

The Amazon Ecological Spa Charapamama has been built with typical and rustic material of the area. It has bungalows and many sharings bathrooms, areas for body and relaxing treatments plus flowering baths. It also has an area for massages, an special area for clay bath treatments and a natural water-spring pool where the water comes from underground and is permanently running in a small and very fresh stream. In addition it has an area for hamacs located in front of a small artifical lagoon where is possible to observe wild ducks , turtles and different kind of fishes of the jungle.

Finally the Spa has a very special and magic kitchen where we can see enigmatic faces carved in the walls made of clay in the room, which give to the area a very mystic environment and where you could enjoy the delicious dietetic food of the amazon jungle.

The Amazon Ecological Spa Charapamama, has been created in the heart of the amazon jungle by Mrs. Marlene Soto, owner and administrator of the place. She is a person with much experience using different plants of the amazon jungle for the treatment of the body and the mind, due to her work with Don Agustin Rivas Vasquez, -a well known shaman of the Amazon region, with a long and well recognized trajectory-, with whom she learned many of the medicinal plants prescriptions for relaxing, massages, healings, so as the ayahuasca ceremonies too, which she conducted in different opportunieties together with Don Agustin Rivas Vasquez.

The Amazon Ecological Spa Charapamama offers you the treatment and direct contact with the mother earth, the nature, so as the crystaline springwater that comes from underground to give you health, well-being and relax.

Located in the Northern highlands of Peru, the people of the Chachapoya Culture lived on this area during the years 400 to 1400 AC. According to the history, the Chachapoyans tenaciously opposed to the Inca expansion, but were finally invaded and defeated during the times of the Inca Tupac Yupanqui...

Some of their most important expressions were their architecture style, with the impressive fortress of Kuelap knowned also as the "second Machupicchu of Peru",where we could find circular buildings and walls decorated with romboidal and zigzag friezes which mark the difference with the Inca culture constructions. Furthermore, their important cult of dead, was showed in their burial style such as the mummies of the Lake of the Condors and the Karajia sarcophagi that were found embedded in the cliffs, all of it surrounded by wonderful waterfalls, beautiful forests and huge valleys, where is possible to do different trekkings and excursions to explore the magnificient Culture of the Chachapoyan people.
